Data and Reports - IGI

Data and Interpretation Reports

IGI has over 30 years experience in compiling and interpreting large geochemical datasets for the petroleum industry. We are continuously working to expand our range of databases and further improve our current products. Each database undergoes a rigorous quality control process before being released to ensure that our data products are of exceptional quality and can be used with confidence by geologists, basin modellers and geochemists.

We update the databases routinely at the start of each year, to capture any data which has been released over the previous year. This means that you can work with our databases, confident in the knowledge that you have access to the most up to date information available.

If you are interested in data outside of our currently available databases, IGI are also able to compile bespoke databases from proprietary or legacy data. We have a team of 5 highly experienced and skilled database technicians who work solely on compiling and quality assuring our databases. For more information on this service please see the data compilation page or contact our Data Manager.

Report

Barents Sea Geochemical Database

The Barents Sea Database contains over 27,000 samples from 73 wells across the region. It has been put together using publicly available geochemical data reports from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD). Data is included for over 26,700 rocks, 119 oils and 230 gas samples, ranging from screening analyses through to detailed GCMS. This database is an excellent starting point for both regional study and more targeted investigation of specific prospects.

Report

Barents Sea Geochemical Interpretation Report

This report covers identification and characterization of key source rock intervals, correlation of these with oils, condensates and gases, and a regional evaluation of source rock burial, maturation and uplift history. Data used in this evaluation are taken from the Barents Sea Geochemical Database.

Report

Barents Sea 1-D Basin Models

The database contains 65 ready-to-use thermally-calibrated 1-D basin models (in Genesis format). The models provide an estimation of heat flow, geothermal gradient and Cenozoic uplift/erosion in each well location by using vitrinite reflectance data and (corrected) temperature data from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD).

Report

Norwegian Sea Geochemical Database

The Norwegian Sea Database contains over 29,000 samples from 196 wells. It has been put together using publicly available geochemical data reports from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD). Data is included for over 240 oils, 590 gases and approaching 28,000 rock samples, ranging from screening analyses to detailed GCMS. This database is suitable for both regional and prospect specific investigation work.

Report

Norwegian Sea Geochemical Interpretation Report

This report covers identification and characterization of key source rock intervals, correlation of these with oils, condensates and gases, and a regional evaluation of source rock burial and maturation.  A section of the report considers potential Cretaceous sourcing in the deeper basins.  Data used in this evaluation are taken from the Norwegian Sea Geochemical Database.

Report

Norwegian Central Graben Geochemical Report

This report covers the interpretation of petroleum geochemical data held within part of IGI’s Norway North Sea Petroleum Geochemical Database (2017 Edition).

Report

Norwegian North Viking Graben Geochemical Interpretation Report

This report covers the interpretation of petroleum geochemical data held for the Norwegian North Viking Graben within IGI’s Norwegian Sea Petroleum Geochemical Database (2017 Edition).  The interpretation report identifies and characterises key source rock intervals, correlating these intervals with oils, condensates and gases within the basin, and also includes a regional evaluation of source rock burial and maturation through 1-D modelling of 15 selected wells.

Report

Norwegian South Viking Graben and Danish-Norwegian Basin Interpretation Report

This report covers the interpretation of petroleum geochemical data held within part of IGI’s Norway North Sea Petroleum Geochemical Database (2017 edition), It identifies and characterises key source rock intervals, correlating these intervals with fluids and gases in the basin, and includes a regional evaluation of source rock burial and maturation through 1-D modelling of 20 selected wells.

Canada

Report

East Coast Canada Geochemical Database

The East Coast Canada Database contains 57,809 samples from 390 wells across the region. It has been put together using publicly available geochemical data from Natural Resources Canada (NRCAN). Data is included for 57,009 rocks and 256 fluids. Data range from screening analyses through to saturate GC. This database is an excellent starting point for both regional study and more focused investigation.

Geochemical Review and Hydrocarbon Type Prediction for the Porcupine Trough

This recently-updated regional geochemical and basin modelling evaluation of the Porcupine Basin was conducted by IGI Ltd. in association with Collinson Jones Consulting Ltd. and OceanGrove Geoscience Ltd., with the aim of reducing exploration risk by evaluating geological and geochemical controls on oil and gas charging to traps within the Porcupine Basin.

Report

United Kingdom Continental Shelf Geochemical Database

IGI Ltd and project partners Lloyd’s Register have produced an extensive petroleum geochemical database for the UK Continental Shelf, the work was funded by the UK Oil & Gas Authority, and the final geochemical database has been released publicly through their website.

USA

Report

Gulf of Mexico Geochemical Database

The Gulf of Mexico Database has been compiled using geochemical data extracted from our extensive collection of publically available literature. The database comprises over 7,000 samples from 55 sources, including more than 950 oils, 2,500 gases and 3000 rock samples. Data range from screening analyses through to detailed GCMS.

Report

Iraq Petroleum Systems Report

The Iraq Petroleum Systems analysis and toolkit is a collaborative product developed by Lynx Information Systems, David Boote Consulting and IGI Ltd.  It is presented in seven sections which describe the key factors governing the distribution of hydrocarbons in the area, and evaluate the main petroleum systems.

Report

Source Rocks & Petroleum Systems of Equatorial Guinea

This report, in four volumes, documents a study undertaken jointly by RPS Energy Ltd and IGI Ltd, applying geochemical and basin modelling techniques to better understand the petroleum systems that have operated (or are operating) in the territory of offshore Equatorial Guinea.

Report

Eastern Atlantic Oceanic Crust Project

IGI Ltd, in partnership with SRC (Subsurface Resource Consulting) has produced a geochemical and thermal maturity evaluation for a number of DSDP/ODP boreholes along the Atlantic seaboard between Morocco and South Africa, providing a guide to future exploration of the deep water basins overlying oceanic crust.
